Recent developments have reduced Turkish optimism about President Obama’s second term and other difficult region-wide situations produce important dynamics that could intrude on the alliance between the two countries. Both sides have different agendas on many important global politics issues, and the present U.S. priority is focused on short-term tactics that are seen to secure vital interests. The main potential problem between Turkey and the United States is in the possibility of paradigmatic differences on global issues.
