John Bruni *
In the context of the P5+1 negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, this paper examines the possibility for a true improvement in relations between Tehran and Washington and peace in the Gulf. To do this, the author provides an analysis of other regional players, including the Gulf-Cooperation Council, Israel, and Turkey. He argues that while the US and Iran may reach a detente, it will come at the cost of antagonizing the GCC and Israel, as neither party see a general settlement between Washington and Tehran being in their interests.
