Following the latest bouts of armed conflict in the north of the Syrian Arab Republic (Syria), since 19 September more than 140,000 Syrian refugees have fled across the border to southern Turkey. As of 1 June, Turkey hosted over 765,000 refugees from Syria. It represents 27 per cent of the Syrian refugees in the region. About 49 per cent of the population is females and 51 per cent males, while 18 per cent of the overall population is children under five. (suite…)

The influx of Syrian refugees into Turkey has far surpassed initial projections. According to a recent survey conducted by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), the main Governmental agency responsible for the Syria operation, about 36 per cent of Syrian refugees in Turkey are accommodated in camps in 10 provinces located in the South and South East of Turkey (suite…)
